Five
Radford University students graduated in July from the 2009 class of the
Phoenix Project Nonprofit Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship Program
(NLP). The Phoenix Project, winner of the 2009 Governor’s Award for
Volunteerism and Community Service, is a statewide nonprofit organization,
whose mission is to prepare the next generation of nonprofit leaders and
social entrepreneurs for partnership building between Virginia
universities and distressed communities throughout the Commonwealth. Over
the course of the summer, students representing sixteen universities from
across Virginia, worked as management consultants and donated more than
6,000 volunteer hours to work on priority projects chosen by the Petersburg
community.
